About

Decatur House of Prayer is a non-denominational, not for profit 501( c )3 charitable organization. We are a christian prayer room encouraging others to come and sit before the Lord and worship him! It is a place where we worship the Lord and intercede for our world. Each two hour period is led by a worship team. There is worship and a time of intercessory prayer where we pray for our city, state and nation. We pray for our youth and families as well.

All are welcome to come and go freely and to stay in the prayer room as long as they like. While in the prayer room, feel free to join in with the corporate worship and prayer, read your Bible, study a favorite commentary, write in your journal, or engage in private prayer. You may sit, stand, or pace up and down the aisles. Whatever you do, we ask that you do it in a manner that honors and serves the other people in the room.

If you have any questions while visiting, please do not hesitate to ask an attendant or email us.

OUR HISTORY
• In 2005, we began as “Lunch with Jesus.”
Three woman made sack lunches and invited woman
to come on their lunch hour to worship Jesus.
We would eat our lunch and discuss
the book “Bridal Intercession” by Gary Wiens. After
the discussion, we would invite the woman to go
into the sanctuary and sit with Jesus. Devotional
music would be playing on a CD. After about six
months or so, God told Kim to start singing during
the devotional time. She moved from just singing to
singing and playing the piano.
Tuesday noon’s Harp and Bowl had begun.

• That same year, we had taken our worship leader
to the International House of Prayer in Kansas City
(IHOP) for healing of cancer. When we took Nelda
to IHOP, I fell in love with the prayer room and the
Harp and Bowl Worship. It is who I am…. singing
God’s word back to Him. Praying and singing at the
same time! I loved it.
• We went back several times and each time I loved
it more. Each time, I would have an incredible God
moment. Each time I go back, it is like I am going
home to the mother ship. Worshipping with people
who LIVE to worship God. That is their job. They
worship Him 24/7! For several years, we would
have noon worship in the form of Harp and Bowl.
• In January 2010, several ladies and
I went to IHOP in Kansas City for a weeklong
Harp and Bowl Training Seminar. While I was there,
I once again had a God moment. I told God, I
wanted to stay at IHOP and live there. He said “No,
go back and I will start House of Prayer in Decatur.”
When we returned, we began Harp and Bowl
worship three times a week; Tuesdays at noon,
Wednesday evenings with the children of
Lampstand PC and Fridays at noon.
• We became a 501 c 3 not-for-profit corporation in May 2012.
Founding board members were Jodi Lockwood, Julie Ohmen and Kim Robinson.

During the past seven years, we have moved twice! In August of 2013 we moved to the Guiding Light Healing Rooms. They were so generous to us in our 3 ½ years of “wilderness living”. In November of 2016, the Lord delivered us into our present location . We celebrated our Grand Opening on August 12, 2017 at our new remodeled prayer room located at 1920 N.
