About
Decatur House of Prayer is a non-denominational, not for profit 501( c )3 charitable organization. We are a Christian prayer room encouraging others to come and sit before the Lord and worship Him! It is a place where we worship the Lord and intercede for our world. Each two hour period is led by a worship team. There is worship and a time of intercessory prayer where we pray for our city, state and nation. We pray for our youth and families as well.
We are a praying community of believers, committed to pursuing intimacy with the Lord through worship, prayer and the Word of God. We are committed to establishing night & day intercessory worship in Decatur, fulfill the Great Commission and prepare the body of Christ for the Lord’s return.
All are welcome to come and go freely and to stay in the prayer room as long as they like. While in the prayer room, feel free to join in with the corporate worship and prayer, read your Bible, study a favorite commentary, write in your journal, or engage in private prayer. You may sit, stand, or pace up and down the aisles. Whatever you do, we ask that you do it in a manner that honors and serves the other people in the room.
If you have any questions while visiting, please do not hesitate to ask an attendant or use the form on our contact page.

Why a House of Prayer?

“Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven” Matt. 6:10

Right now in Heaven there is prayer and worship happening in the Throne room of the Lord (Revelation 4 & 5). The Word tells us that there has been,is, and will be prayer and worship going on before the Throne of God FOREVER. This is our highest calling, to commune with our Lord, to pour out and offer everything we have before Him.

“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field” Matt. 13:44

The Lord wants our extravagant worship poured out over Him, He wants all that we have. There is no better way to give Him this than through day and night prayer and worship. To be with Him, to be pouring out all we are before His throne, is our greatest honor and privilege. How blessed are we to have this intimacy with the Lord, that we can give Him all of us! So that He can equip us to live as He lived; loving, healing and teaching people.

“So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land…” Ezk. 22:30

God is looking for those who would make intercession before Him on behalf of the land. He is looking for those with His heart for His people. He desires all to come to Him, and He wants to use His Church to get them there. Prayer is paving the way for that to happen. All activity of the Kingdom is to be initiated, maintained, and accomplished through prayer.

“One thing I have desired of the Lord, and that will I seek; that I may dwell in the House of my Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.” Psalm 27:4

As believers, our highest goal should be to be with Him. Just to sit in His Presence & love Him is our highest calling. He redeemed us so that our relationship with Him may be restored! The Lord loves it when we just spend time with Him, when we grow our relationship with Him! The House of Prayer is such a wonderful place to do this, we provide a distraction-free, glory-filled sanctuary to just be with the Lord!
