Eternal treasure

"One thing I desire of the Lord, and that will I seek, that I may dwell in His house all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple." - Psalm 27:4 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in to steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Matthew 6:19-21 "Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters, and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, let your soul delight itself in abundance." - Isaiah 55:1-2

Eternity. Forever is a long time, it's a huge concept to think about, and honestly our minds cannot fully grasp it. BUT... we are, as Believers, called to think higher, look higher. As we look upon the Lord, He will change our perspective on so many things. One of those things that He changes in us is where we store our treasures.

Many think that this just means... not being materialistic; an of course that is part of it, but not all of it. The bigger picture here is what do we spend our time and energy on. Are we so busy with things that will, in the end, just pass away? Do we spend too much time trying to climb that corporate ladder, trying to get people to see/like/notice us, or keeping up with the newest thing? What should we spend our time and energy on?

Well, let's go back to Eternity... what things are eternal? What will really matter in the end, when all else fades? God and people. These two things are eternal, and so I would challenge us to focus on God and people, more than we do right now.

This is one of the biggest benefits of The House of Prayer - we focus on God & people. Everything we do is God focused; the worship, the prayer, the study and contemplation. And when we do this it changes the atmosphere, it draws people to Him, and it changes people! Everything we do is God & people focused. We want to be so One Thing focused that it changes the world.

What do you spend your time and energy on? I would ask you to consider coming to DHOP, focusing on the One Thing with us & store up that eternal treasure.
